Machines are Inches Away from Simulating and Decoding Human Emotions

Technology rules our life. The simple home appliances we hoped would become smarter a few years ago, are actually hearing everything you’re saying.  The radio now plays the song you’re actually humming in your mind. The car you are driving knows exactly where you could be heading to, even before you put your foot on the paddle. The phone takes your search tab and puts on News you are more interested in. The gaming console you cherished so much in childhood has now become a reality streaming device—taking you straight into the 3D & 4D experiences that can put any movie-maker to shame. Behind all these massive transformations, we can identify the evolution of how technology has come to force. Be it your TV, Car, Smart phone, or for some like me, the Kindle (I love reading, and turning pages of a rough old book), the gadget knows everything!!!! It predicts user’s behavior much before the action has even begun – and that makes me smile and grin at the same time!

Has technology come to replace emotions and reactions?

Or, has it been used to poach human emotions so that companies can build their massive data lakes to impinge into everything we see online or in stores? One thing is clear, machines are allying with marketing, sales and communications teams that tether into consumer lives to build the next empires of advertising companies.

Don’t believe me? Well, last quarter results for tech behemoths such as Amazon, Alphabet’s Google, Tencent, Alibaba, Walmart’s Flipkart, NTT Data, Microsoft, Facebook, Oracle, SAP, and Salesforce’s Tableau collectively earned cumulative revenue of over $1000 billion and above!

We are already seeing investments worth billions and trillions into Computer Vision, AI, Supervised and Semi-supervised learning, Image processing, NLP and NLV, Text Analytics, Facial Recognition, Bio Footprints, and other innovative techniques.

Machine Learning techniques are garnering steam – innovating and self-replicating for mercurial results in record-time. Something, we have seen happening only in two fields in the last century – Healthcare, and Space Research.

But now, thanks to massive impetus to machine learning developments, we are seeing a more holistic development across every field.

We have evidently progressed into the most advanced era of machine level intelligence. The next stage of innovations in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning platforms are only mostly going to be industry-specific, and not much on changing algorithms. The true essence of working with cutting-edge AI ML tools is the gigantic stream of data that we now work with. Just a decade ago, I was working with designing AI ML tools based on 5 GB data-lake – but today, the data lake has become an ocean…. The algo passes through 20 different kinds of checks before its first testing. Reason? We now work with 5 TB of data every month—which is a massive leap in the era of Big Data Learning. So, what happened in the last 10 years in the world of AI ML development?

The aspirations changed. For engineers, IT professionals, marketing and sales professionals, healthcare businesses, and anyone you can name here. Everyone understands, or to put it in more simple words, “Envisions” of working with AI, machine learning and other proliferative data science tools some day or the other. If you are seeking admission to machine learning course, that day could be today or tomorrow.

In my opinion, 2020 would spark new debates related to consumer privacy, data protection and military resourcing of Big Data. But, what about commercial “poaching” of consumer emotions and behavioral tracking to make billions from personalization gimmicks. Well, that is not going to stop for the next few years at least.

If you are planning to grow into a machine learning designer or AI instructional designer, this is a ripe moment to get an AI and Machine Learning course degree. The immediate offers are flooding the market in healthcare, computer hardware, Cloud Computing, IT Ops and Networking, and Search Marketing. In fact, even the diverse industries such as Events and Conference, Tele-calling, Oil and gas field exploration, marine conservation, and education resources are relying on the next phase of smart technologies to drive revenue and sales.

Laying the stick straight here, you have a clear reason to embrace technology or learn it. Technology will bleed through economy – those who fall short will lose out on jobs to automation, leaving very less chance for recovery.  Emotions will count for nothing for the businesses, workers, and consumers, if machines are not mastered today.
